FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PHOENIX (September 8, 2010) — Republican Congressional Candidate Ben Quayle, responding to his opponent’s attack ad on Christian radio regarding morality, began airing his own ad today drawing some clear distinctions between the candidates on various social issues. “As the ad states,” said Quayle Communications Director Jay Heiler, “it’s surprising the man has raised the subject, but I’m glad he did. We’re a long way from San Francisco, and it’s a tough election cycle for a limousine liberal carrying around maximum contributions from Nancy Pelosi and the SEIU.”

“It’s obvious that he’s trying to re-invent himself for a campaign,” continued Heiler, “but that $9,000 will speak more loudly to voters than all the millions Hulburd can spend.”

“The SEIU is a politicized left-wing union organization leading a boycott effort against Arizona over SB 1070,” said Quayle. “My opponent should renounce its support and provide a full and immediate explanation to the people of Arizona as to why he runs with a crowd seeking to hurt the people of our state.”

Quayle called on Hulburd a week ago to renounce the support of the SEIU and other left-wing union organizations promoting a boycott against Arizona, but to date he has not.

In the ad Ben Quayle’s strong conservative stance on social issues is contrasted with John Hulburd’s record of support for left-wing unions, abortion advocacy, gay marriage and Obamacare. “Ben Quayle’s opponent is just another Nancy Pelosi liberal with a phony message to hide it,” says a woman’s voice in narration. It will air widely in Phoenix.

PHOENIX (September 2, 2010) – Day three and nothing but silence from the Hulburd campaign on Ben Quayle’s call to return all campaign donations and renounce endorsements from the unions that are participating in the boycott of the state of Arizona.

PHOENIX (September 2, 2010) – Day three and nothing but silence from the Hulburd campaign on Ben Quayle’s call to return all campaign donations and renounce endorsements from the unions that are participating in the boycott of the state of Arizona.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) have both contributed the maximum amount of $5,000 each to the Hulburd campaign and the Arizona chapter of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) has given Hulburd its official endorsement.

All three of these unions are actively participating in the boycott of the state of Arizona, with the SEIU joining the lawsuit against SB 1070. The national president of the AFL-CIO even sent a letter, urging President Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to “cut all ties—including collaborations between Arizona state and local law enforcement and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.”

“Hulburd’s silence in my call for him to return funds and reject the endorsements of these unions, who are proudly trying to harm the state of Arizona through the boycott, is a sign of his complicity with the union agenda in boycotting our state and overturning SB 1070,” said Quayle.

“Hulburd’s silence is deafening,” said Quayle for Congress Communications Director Jay Heiler. “He smiles at the voters and tells them he supports SB 1070, then reaches behind his back to grab cash and endorsements from the left-wing union organizations who attack the law and lead a boycott of Arizona. Some would call that deception; some would call it hypocrisy. Whatever you call it, it’s a pattern of behavior for Jon Hulburd.”

After many months of intensive campaigning, we have finally achieved a hard fought victory in the Primary. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the many of you who have stood by Tiffany and me to encourage your friends and neighbors to support my candidacy. Without you, this victory would never have been achieved. We are profoundly touched by those who have dedicated so much time and energy on our behalf.

The General election allows us to move past the unfortunate infighting between conservatives and join together for a common purpose. We conservatives and moderates and all those who love freedom must fight against any possibility this important seat in Congressional District 3 fall under the control of this left-wing Administration. This November we need to take back Congress and put a check on this Administration and their desire to kill the American Dream of freedom and prosperity on which our Country was founded.

I am humbled by your trust to help lead this fight in Washington.

Thank you all for your continued support.

August 16, 2010

Dear Mr. Moak,

I am in receipt of your letter dated August 16, 2010.

As you well know, despite the sleight of hand that appears in your letter and earlier correspondence from your campaign on this subject, neither I nor anyone else has questioned the validity or value of your non-profit organization. In fact, we can all agree that the organization has a legitimate charitable purpose and mission.

In fact that is precisely the problem — that such an organization could be transformed into the sales and marketing arm of your for-profit drug testing company, which you subsequently sold for 25 million dollars; and further that you concealed the relationship between the non-profit and the for-profit entities from the IRS when you were required by law to disclose it.

I agree with you that the voters of the 3rd district are entitled to respect; you can show that respect by providing clear answers for the following questions:

1. Why didn’t you disclose the connection between NotMyKid and First Check on IRS statements like you are legally required to?

2. Why didn’t you tell donor’s at the time of the conflict?

3. Why did you use 80% of donor’s money in 2005 to promote First Check?

4. Why was the reference to you being the Chairman of First Check suddenly removed from the NotMyKid website?

I realize the heightened scrutiny of political campaigns is difficult, but you can rest assured that you would be required to address all of these matters with specificity as either the Republican nominee for District 3 or as a sitting Congressman. Thus far you have produced a number of campaign emails, and now your letter, with any number of insults and head fakes, but without addressing any of the relevant questions. Now is your opportunity.

Sincerely,

I recently stated that Barack Obama is the worst President in history. This is not a claim that I make lightly; I have great respect for the office of the Presidency. Our leaders should be inspirational and push our country to greater heights. President Obama came into office with an aura that seemed to indicate just that; and he has failed beyond any of my wildest imaginations.

A spokesman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) stated to CNN that “The son of the worst vice president ever may think he has some wisdom on the job performance of political leaders, but if he thinks a president whose actions have saved the country from a second Great Depression, reformed a broken health care system and protected consumers from the risk and greed of Wall Street merits such mention, his analysis is only slightly less ridiculous than his candidacy for public office is.”

The DNC has obviously chosen to respond to my commentary on Barack Obama because it knows my statement reflects the views of millions of Americans. And its shrill attack on my family reflects more of the same venality and stupidity for which Washington is now famous.

Obviously, the DNC spokesman has failed to talk to voters around the country, which unfortunately is a trend with many pompous Democrats. I base my claim that President Obama, through misguided policies and ideology, has fundamentally changed our country for the worse; more so than any other President in history. I stand by my comments and will not back down.

Watch my debate with CNN’s John King here:

The last three days have been a comedy of errors for Republican challenger Vernon Parker, as the self-proclaimed former Christian pastor spreads lies about fellow GOP candidate Ben Quayle. In a desperate attempt to mislead the voters of CD-3 for his own political gain, Parker claimed that Ben “rented a family.” Once Quayle defended himself and cleared his nieces’ names, Parker promised the Guardian that he would retract his statements, Parker said “Of course. If they are his nieces, of course I would.” He has yet to retract this statement publicly to his constituents and Parker was clearly not genuine in his claim as mailers and robo calls have gone out with further lies about Quayle in the last 24 hours.

AZ Family Channel 3

Parker’s latest desperate attempt to keep himself in the news by insinuating Quayle made a derogatory remark towards Parker’s ethnicity by using the term “poster boy” backfired. Even the dictionary would disagree with the Parker campaign, defining “poster boy or poster girl” as 1. a person who appears on a poster or 2. a person who typifies or represents a particular characteristic, cause, opinion, etc: a poster girl for late motherhood. Mainstream media uses this term often, earlier this year; CBS’ Early Show used the title “Woods New “Poster Boy” of Sex Addiction?” in its coverage of Tiger Woods.

The voters of CD3 will not be fooled by the same racially motivated antics that Obama used to keep his critics at bay. The issue here is not Quayle’s use of a common English term for a symbol or standard, but rather that Parker wants to run his smear campaign for high office as “politics as usual” when the American people have clearly called for a shake-up of our current political ways.

Lets get back to the issues, Mr. Parker.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Phoenix, Ariz. (August 5, 2010) – Ben Quayle, running for Congress in the 3rd District of Arizona, released the following statement:

“Yesterday Vernon Parker and his frantic hatchet-flak Jason Rose launched the latest round of their ongoing smear campaign, attacking me for appearing with my nieces and referring to them as family in a campaign photo. The story traveled around the country before several local media outlets did the legwork to expose it as ridiculous. See these links:

AZ Family Channel 3

Phoenix New Times

Tactics like this — and like the attack mail piece and phone calls Parker has now paid for — are beneath high-caliber Republican candidates; but then Vernon Parker is not such a candidate.

Perhaps Parker and Rose prefer discussion of my nieces to examination of his record.

This is a candidate who was running hard for governor until Rep. Shadegg announced his retirement, and then immediately pivoted into the CD 3 contest. He apparently considers himself so gifted that he can lead us in any capacity. In fact he is a professional politician in desperate search of a job.

In reality, Parker is unelectable to either office. He is a candidate who has spent recent years seeking millions of dollars in contracts from the federal government for “minority-owned businesses,” about which he learned while serving in the same federal government. He collected a lot of taxpayer money for doing little or no work, before being found by the Small Business Administration to have lied in his effort to gain the contracts and investigated.

The ethical swamp in Washington is far from “drained,” and will remain a major story throughout the fall election cycle. If Vernon Parker were the Republican nominee, he would quickly become a national poster boy for the Democrat Party; the seat would be lost in November; and Barack Obama would go on destroying our freedom and our economic future without obstruction from District 3 in Arizona.

Let me clear about one thing. This race is about my nieces all right, but not about their appearance on a piece of campaign mail. It is about the massive debt — now $119,000 for every citizen in the nation — that Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi and their Democrat tax cartel in Washington, DC are loading on their backs and the backs of every child born into this country. It is about stopping that tax cartel in Washington and the drug cartels in Mexico, before any further damage is done to our state and nation.

I am the right man for that job. I will go to Washington and put a halt to Obama’s socialist policies and restore government by consent of the governed.

We face great challenges which cannot be met by flawed and vulnerable candidates who cannot carry the fight, and Parker is not the only one. A crowded field must not become an excuse for an unexamined field.
